Many people today know that they need a change in their hearts to become a Christian, but how do they do that? Here are four simple things you need to recognize and do so that you may know that you have eternal life.>
1. Realize that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
"For God so loved the world the at He gave His son"...John 3:16 "Jesus said, I have come that you might have life"...John 10:10
2. Admit that God is perfect and holy and that you have sinned against Him and deserve judgment for your sins.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.. .Romans 3:23 "If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire"...Revelation 20:15
3. Understand that Jesus' death on the cross is God's substitute payment of judgment for your sins.
"Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world"...John 1:29 "God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf"... 2 Corinthians 5:17
4. You must personally invite Jesus Christ into your heart by asking Him to be your Savior and Lord.
"To as many as received Him, He gave the power to become sons of God, even to those who believe in His name"...John 1:12 "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved"...Romans 10:9
Heavenly Father; I realize you love me and have a wonderful plan for my life. I admit that I have sinned and deserve your judgment. I understand, also, that you sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay for those sins. I want you to come into my heart, to forgive me of my sins, and to run my life. I submit myself to you completely. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. Amen
